JLEN acquires Codford Biogas’s anaerobic digestion plant in England

Environmental infrastructure investment fund JLEN has acquired a 100 percent stake in Codford Biogas Ltd. (CBL), the company that owns an anaerobic-digestion plant in England, according to Insider Media.

CBL holds the rights and operational assets that make up the Codford AD plant, a food-waste permitted facility that produces 100,000 tonnes per annum of both liquid- and solid-food waste from the commercial and industrial sector. The plant became operational in 2014 and has an electrical capacity of 3.8 megawatts.

Richard Morse, chairman of JLEN, said the deal, which includes an initial upfront payment of £19.8 million ($X million), marks JLEN’s second food-waste processing, anaerobic-digestion plant and its first fully electrical plant.

The plant supplies enough energy to supply up to 4,000 homes and expands the total capacity of renewable-energy assets in JLEN’s portfolio to 308.5 megawatts.
