Interim leader appointed to Texas Pension Review Board

by Kali Persall

An interim replacement has been selected for Anumeha Kumar, former executive director of the Texas Pension Review Board (PRB), who left at the end of February to take up the same leadership role at the Austin Firefighters Relief & Retirement Fund (AFRS).

In December 2021, Kumar penned a note to AFRS, introducing herself as its new fund administrator. Kumar brought up her more than 11 years of experience with Texas PRB, having served in various managerial roles at the agency and gained extensive experience in the areas of public-pension policy and finance. Kumar ended the letter noting that she would be joining AFRS in early 2022.

Amy Cardona, director of programs and services at Texas PRB, a state agency mandated to oversee all Texas public retirement systems, was appointed to the temporary role. Cardona joined the Texas PRB in November 2021, bringing nearly 15 years of experience in state government in both the legislative and executive branches.
