INNIO, an energy solution and service provider, has ordered two electrolyzers to convert green electricity to green hydrogen for its power-to-hydrogen-to-power project in Austria.
The 2-megawatt system will be constructed in a containerized design, located on the premises of the Achensee power plant of Tiroler Wasserkraft (TIWAG). Its subsidiary TINEXT will build the necessary compressor and storage terminals.
After it was commissioned in 1927, the power plant was the largest storage power plant in Austria. With the water of the natural reserve Lake Achensee, five Pelton turbines generate about 219.5 gigawatt-hours of electric energy every year, according to Lake Achensee’s website.
With the new electrolyzers, locally produced hydrogen will be transported by pipeline from the TINEXT compressor and storage terminals to INNIO’s primary operations in Jenbach, Austria. In addition to solar, battery and hydropower, the primary operations can also be supplied with
