Infrastructure development in Indonesia heats up

by Kali Persall

Indonesia is expecting to move more than 50 infrastructure projects to completion this year through the government’s mid-term infrastructure development program, reports The Jakarta Post.

Projects will include toll roads, seaports and special economic zones. According to the local news source, several major projects such as the 37.62-kilometer (23.4-mile) Pandaan-Malang toll road in East Java, the special economic zone at Maloy’s seaport in East Kalimantan, the Wilmar Industrial Zone in Serang Banten and a water system in Umbulan in East Java are all in line to be completed and commence operations during the first quarter of 2020.

These projects were allegedly carried over from the infrastructure development program.

In May 2019, Bloomberg reported that Indonesia was drafting an infrastructure plan to build more than $400
