Iberdrola has plans to sell a 49-percent stake in Germany’s Wikinger offshore wind farm to Energy Infrastructure Partners (EIP), a Swiss infrastructure investment company focused on the global energy transition.
Following the €700 million ($705 million) transaction, Iberdrola will retain a 51-percent majority stake in the wind farm and will continue to control and manage the asset, leading the operations and maintenance services.
Wikinger is one of Iberdrola’s flagship operational projects and was the first offshore wind farm developed by the group on its own. With an installed capacity of 350 megawatts, it has supplied clean energy to around 350,000 German households since it was commissioned in 2018.
The total valuation of the Wikinger offshore wind farm is estimated to be €1.425 billion ($1.435 billion).
