GIC and NorthWest acquire Brisbane private hospital

by Andrea Zander

NorthWest Australia, a fund backed by Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC and managed by NorthWest Healthcare Properties Australia, has entered a sale-and-leaseback deal for a 70-bed private hospital, Peninsula Private Hospital, in Brisbane, Queensland, for A$110 million ($tk million).

“We look forward to expanding the surgical and medical service offering to the local community of the Morton Bay region through the development we will jointly undertake,” said Richard Roos, NorthWest executive director.

The joint venture plans to expand a vacant 14,600-square-meter (157,153-square-foot) section of the asset. It will also create additional theaters and procedure rooms, as well as an internal refurbishment.

Construction is set to commence in the first quarter of next year.
