Germany's Federal Network Agency has launched a tender for 980 megawatts of offshore wind turbines in the North Sea, according to Bloomberg.
This is in line with the country's offshore expansion targets, which aim for renewables to account for 80 percent of the country's gross electricity demand by 2030. Germany now has 7.7 gigawatts of installed offshore wind capacity. The country’s goal is 30 gigawatts by 2030.
The turbines in the tendered area are scheduled to begin operating in 2027.
