Ferrovial sells stake in Heathrow Airport Holdings to Ardian, PIF for $3b

Ferrovial is selling its entire 25 percent stake in Heathrow Airport Holdings — Europe’s leading airport and Britain’s aviation hub — for around £2.4 billion ($3 billion).

Under the terms of the agreement, Ardian will acquire a 15 percent stake in FGP TopCo, the holding company of Heathrow Airport Holdings, and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund will acquire the remaining 10 percent in TopCo. The buyers will acquire these stakes via separate vehicles.

Ferrovial became majority shareholder of Heathrow in 2006 and has contributed to the airport’s transformation throughout the past 17 years in various ways. These milestones include overseeing an investment of £12 billion ($15 billion), expanding Heathrow’s capacity with the construction of Terminal 2 and improving its operational performance.
