F2i to take ownership stake in Ital Gas Storage

F2i, Italy’s largest independent infrastructure fund manager, has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Ital Gas Storage (IGS), the biggest independent gas storage facility in the country, from Morgan Stanley Infrastructure and Whysol Investments, according to Reuters.

Morgan Stanley Infrastructure owns 92.5 percent of IGS, and Whysol Investments holds a minority stake and is involved in managing the company, particularly with regards to public affairs activities aimed at monitoring the correct implementation of the industrial plan.

Whysol promoted and managed the entire authorization process and the preparation of the IGS industrial plan from 2008 to 2015, when it entered into a joint venture with North Haven Infrastructure Partners, a fund managed by Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners. In this second phase, it has guided the financing of the project and the construction of the plant, which was completed in 2018.
