Duke Energy, Amazon unveil Kentucky’s largest utility-scale rooftop solar project

Duke Energy, in partnership with Amazon, has delivered Kentucky’s largest utility-scale rooftop solar project at the 800,000-square-foot Amazon Air Hub.

The facility operates more than 5,600 photovoltaic panels and will feed up to 2 megawatts of solar power directly into the electric distribution grid, providing around 400 homes and businesses with energy.

The facility is located adjacent to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. Amazon’s Air Hub is ideal for a number of reasons, according to Duke Energy. It has a substantial and accessible flat roof, which receives optimal sunlight, and it is near the infrastructure needed to feed the solar energy onto the distribution grid and to nearby customers.
