Companies move too slowly to reach net-zero emission objectives

Companies are moving too slowly on the energy transition to net-zero emissions, according to a survey from Zeronomics. About 55 percent of companies say they are not transitioning fast enough, and 78 percent of investors say most business leaders are failing to take the action needed to transition their company by 2050.

Progress is being hampered by a lack of finance, which is the greatest barrier to net-zero transition according to both senior executives and investors. And the need for finance is great. Some 85 percent of companies require medium or high levels of investment to transition to net zero, rising to 91 percent of carbon-intensive companies.
