City of Moline, Ill., requests proposal for high-speed broadband

The City of Moline (Ill.) has issued a request for proposals to ensure world-class highspeed broadband options are available to all residents, businesses and institutions in the City of Moline.

Specifically, the city wishes to provide ubiquitous fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) service offering symmetrical service (same speeds download and upload) to expand and diversify the internet access options for its residents, businesses and other institutions; and to obtain additional fiber for city purposes. Through this RFP, the city seeks proposals from qualified companies to build, operate and maintain a fiber network and other network assets to provide broadband internet service with best-in-class offerings, including an offer of at least 1 Gbps download and upload.

The City of Moline has a population of approximately 44,000. Moline also has 17,652 utility customers of which 15,813 are households (single family and multifamily of six units or less). Moline also has 195.45 line
