CIP and GreenIT to develop three floating offshore wind projects off the Italian coast

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and GreenIT, the Italian renewable-energy joint venture between Plenitude (Eni) and CDP Equity (CDP Group), have agreed to develop three floating offshore wind projects, with an overall capacity of 2 gigawatts, in Italy.

The plants will be located on average roughly 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) off the coast of the Latium and Sardinia regions. The project in Latium will have a total capacity of up to 540 megawatts, and two other wind farms, located off the coast of Sardinia, will have some 500 megawatts and 1,000 megawatts of power. Combined, the three projects will produce around 5 terawatt-hours per year, with commercial operation expected between 2028 and 2031.
