China Railway Construction Corp. wins $595m roads P3 in Chile

China Railway Construction Corp., a listed construction enterprise based in Beijing, has won the contract for a $595 million road public-private partnership (P3) project in Chile, according to InfraPPP.

The Ministry of Public Works of Chile awarded China Railway Construction Corp. the Route 5 Chillán-Collipulli section second concession, which involves improving works on 169 kilometers (105 miles) of Route 5 connecting Chillan to Collipulli in Chile. The project carries a 30-year concession period.

The work will include upgrading the road that runs through the communes of Chillán Viejo, Bulnes, Pemuco, Cabrero, Los Angeles, Mulchen, Collipulli and Ercilla. It also involves the replacement of 14 bridges and the modernization of 48, as well as the construction of 27 new pedestrian bridges and the replacement of 17 existing ones.
