Australia’s CEP.Energy has unveiled plans to build a 1.2-gigawatt battery — the world’s largest, according to the company — at an industrial center in New South Wales, Australia.
The Guardian reports the project is part of a planned network of four grid-scale batteries planned throughout Australia that would have a combined capacity of 2 gigawatts.
Planned for the industrial center of Kurri Kurri in the Hunter Valley, the proposed Hunter Big Battery is eight times the size of the Hornsdale Power Reserve in South Australia, according to Peter Wright, CEO of CEP.Energy.
The successful buildout of the battery would make CEP.Energy the largest battery storage asset owner in Australia.
