Canadian government to build new water treatment system in rural community

by Kali Persall

The Canadian government is constructing a new water treatment system in Petit-Rocher, a Canadian village in New Brunswick.

The project will see the construction of a new water treatment system that uses nano filtration, along with the expansion of the existing pump station, in an effort to increase access to potable water and improve the overall water quality for residents. The project will also include a new treatment system for the filtration backwash, and connections to municipal water services.

The government of Canada is investing more than C$2.5 million ($1.9 million) in this project through the Rural and Northern Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada infrastructure plan, which allocates C$180 billion ($143 billion) over 12 years in public transit projects, green infrastructure, social infrastructure, trade and transportation routes, and Canada’s rural and northern communities.  In addition, the government of New Brunswick will invest more than C$1.
