bp, TotalEnergies capture offshore wind concessions in German tender round

The German government has awarded the rights to bp and TotalEnergies to develop four offshore wind projects in its latest tender round, moving the country closer to its targets of 30 gigawatts of offshore wind projects installed by 2030, 40 gigawatts by 2035 and 70 gigawatts by 2045.

Oil major bp was awarded the rights to develop two offshore wind projects in the German tender round, marking its entry into offshore wind in continental Europe. The two North Sea sites, located 130 kilometers (81 miles) and 150 kilometers (93 miles) offshore, have the potential to generate 4 gigawatts of capacity. bp will lead the development, construction and operations of these fixed-bottom offshore wind projects, with grid connection targeted by end 2030.
