British oil company BP has partnered with Norway’s Statkraft and Aker Offshore Wind in a consortium that will bid for permits to build offshore wind power projects in Norway, according to Reuters.
With a 33.3 percent stake each, the partners will bid for offshore wind power projects in the Soerlige Nordsjoe II licensing area in the southern part of the North Sea. The consortium will also explore opportunities to provide renewable power to offshore oil and gas facilities.
“Our partnership with Aker and BP will create significant value and contribute towards Europe's energy transition,” said Christian Rynning-Toennesen, CEO of Statkraft.
