Blockstream, one of the largest Bitcoin miners in North America, and Macquarie Group have formed a carbon-neutral Bitcoin-mining partnership.
The partnership will pilot a Bitcoin-mining facility and explore carbon-neutral alternatives for such facilities. Under the partnership, Blockstream will supply its enterprise-grade mining facilities and expertise in mining hardware hosting. Macquarie will invest in the facility, while exploring opportunities to provide renewable energy to power the mining process.
Blockstream said this initiative builds on the company’s previously announced collaborations with Aker and Square to establish renewable-powered facilities.
