BayWa r.e. sells 17MW wind farm in Austrian Alps

Construction engineering company BayWa r.e. has sold a 17.25-megawatt wind farm in the Austrian Alps to a German insurance company advised by Encavis Asset Management.

The Fürstkogel wind farm was built by BayWa r.e.’s wholly-owned subsidiary ECOwind in its scheduled time period of six months, according to the firm. ECOwind will be responsible for the technical operation of the asset.

The Fürstkogel wind farm is located at an altitude of more than 1,400 meters (4,593 feet) above sea level. It is expected to generate 45,000 megawatt hours of green energy per year and contribute to Austria’s climate change targets, according to BayWa. The plant is connected to the electricity grid via an almost 15-kilometer (9.3-mile) cable to the Birkfeld junction station.
