Israeli technology company Augwind has signed an agreement with EDF Renewables Israel to build and operate a 5-megawatt photovoltaic plant integrated with the 20-megawatt hour storage system AirBattery.
The partners have agreed to hold the project in equal shares. EDF will be responsible first for securing the land of the project and later for the construction and operation of the facility, and Augwind will act as the storage supplier and lead all aspects of engineering, construction, operation and maintenance of the system.
The project has secured a 23-year power-purchase agreement from the Israeli government's owned electricity company.
According to Or Yogev, CEO and founder of Augwind, the agreement is another keystone in Augwind's strategic plan for becoming a leading supplier in the energy storage market worldwide.
