Atrato Onsite Energy acquires solar project powering Nissan plant in England

by Kali Persall

Atrato Onsite Energy (ROOF) has paid £10.6 million ($12.6 million) for the Hylton Plantation Solar Farm, a company established to develop a 20-megawatt solar photovoltaic project for a Nissan manufacturing plant in England.

ROOF now takes ownership of a behind-the-meter private wire solar installation project for Nissan in Sunderland, England, according to various news sources. The plant will generate electricity for the plant’s production base, which will be acquired by Nissan under a 20-year power-purchase agreement.

“We are working closely with the U.K. automotive industry to deliver further green energy initiatives and to help them on their path to net zero,” said Gurpreet Gujral, managing director of Atrato Partners, the company's investment adviser. “This is one of the largest private-wire solar projects in the U.K. and is a great example of how major U.K. manufacturers can benefit from Atrato's low-cost, traceable clean energy.”
