Arjun-backed Onivia acquires FTTH network in major Spanish fiber expansion

by Released

Arjun Infrastructure Partners, in a consortium with Macquarie Capital and abrdn, has announced the acquisition of a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network from DIGI Spain Telecom.

Spain’s largest independent wholesale fiber platform, Onivia, will operate the network, increasing its total coverage to around 10 million homes — more than a third of homes in the country.

The acquired network comprises 6 million homes, covering 12 provinces across the regions of Madrid, Segovia, Avila, Castilla-La Mancha, Comunidad Valenciana and Murcia. The network currently passes through 4.25 million homes, with the remaining 1.75 million set to be connected over a three-year period. The consortium retains a purchase option on future FTTH rollouts by DIGI in the regions.

DIGI, Spain’s fourth-largest internet service provider, will continue to use the FTTH network to serve its existing customers and remain as an anchor client. The network will also be made available to other Onivia
