Ardian acquires three photovoltaic projects in Italy

by Kali Persall

Ardian has acquired three photovoltaic projects under development in the Italian island of Sardinia from Atlas and Heron Advisory. The projects have a potential total capacity of about 100 megawatts.

The photovoltaic projects aim to qualify as agro-voltaic by combining existing agricultural and sheep-farming activities with clean photovoltaic energy production.

The acquisition was made through the Ardian Clean Energy Evergreen Fund (ACEEF), the firm’s open-ended fund that was launched in April. ACEEF focuses on established renewable assets such as photovoltaic, wind and hydro, as well as emerging technologies such as biogas, biomass, storage and energy efficiency.

After the transaction, ACEEF has a diversified portfolio of wind and photovoltaic assets in Italy totaling 283 megawatts of capacity. The fund’s portfolio now includes 13 companies owning wind and photovoltaic assets with more than 1 gigawatts of renewable capacity in Europe and the Americas.
