AirTrunk, a hyperscale data center specialist based in Asia Pacific, has announced plans to build a new facility in Western Sydney, AirTrunk SYD3.
With 320 megawatts of capacity, the hyperscale data center will be the largest single-campus in the Asia-Pacific region, excluding China.
SYD3 joins the existing 130-megawatt SYD1 in Western Sydney and the 110-megawatt SYD2 in the city’s north. SYD3 will include nine phases, spanning across 8.3 hectares (20.5 acres). Like AirTrunk’s other data centers, SYD3 will utilize 80 percent less water than a traditional data center, and it will feature a range of innovations during design, construction and operation to deliver efficiencies and minimize its carbon impact.
Since the launch of its first data centers in Sydney and Melbourne in 2017, AirTrunk has strategically expanded into key markets across Asia, including Singapore, Hong
