ACWA Power has signed deals with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade to build two solar parks with a combined capacity of 1.4 gigawatts, with 1.2 gigawatts of battery storage.

According to Renewables Now, the Saudi-based ACWA Power plans to build a 400-megawatt solar plant and a 400-megawatt energy-storage system in the Tashkent region; a 1,000-megawatt solar park and a 400-megawatt energy-storage facility in the Samarkand region; and 400 megawatts of energy storage in the Bukhara region.

The projects, which have offtake deals with National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan, also include the construction of power transmission networks.

In 2022, ACWA Power and Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy signed a cooperation agreement, under which ACWA Power pledged to invest $10 billion in the country within five years.
