ACCIONA secures contract for electric-transmission network in Peru

by Kali Persall

ACCIONA has won the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance contract for an electric-transmission network in Peru. The works represent a total investment of $54 million.

The contract consists of two projects: the 220-kilovolt Reque–Nueva Carhuaquero link, substations, transmission lines and associated extensions, and the 220-kilovolt Nueva Tumbes substation and 60-kilovolt Nueva Tumbes–Tumbes transmission line. The first project will increase the transmission capacity between the towns of Chiclayo and Cajamarca, and the second will prevent the overload of the old Zorritos substation now in operation, covering the projected growth in electricity demand in the area for the next 15 years.

Each concession will last 30 years after the start of commercial operations, scheduled for February 2026 and April 2025, respectively.

Both projects were commissioned by the Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM).
