abrdn has plans to make a major equity investment in a partnership with Digi Spain, a subsidiary of Romanian telecom company, RCS & RDS.
Digi Spain offers mobile telephony services, as well as fixed–line broadband and telephony services in the country. Digi Spain has been operating as a nationwide full-fiber operator in Spain since 2018 and has built a fiber footprint across most urban areas in Spain.
As part of its expansion strategy in Spain, Digi Spain is in the process of deploying a fiber-to-the-home network, with the goal of covering up to 2,500,000 residential units. The company has completed the deployment of some 1 million residential units and will look to deploy the rest of the network gradually, throughout an estimated period of three years.
