$200m Sydney data center planned for Macquarie Park

by Kali Persall

Australian real estate firm Stockland has been given the green light to construct a new A$264 million ($204.3 million) data center in Sydney, according to Data Center Dynamics.

Known as Athena, the new five-story facility will be located at the M_Park business park in Macquarie Park. The facility will reportedly be leased to a “major cloud computing provider,” which The Australian Financial Review believes could be Amazon Web Services.

Construction is expected to start in September and be completed by March 2023.
