$1.8b of road projects move forward in Pakistan

Pakistan’s federal government has greenlighted two road projects valued at PAK 300 billion ($1.8 billion), according to InfraPPP.

The projects consist of the 790-kilometer (490-mile) N-25 Karachi-Quetta Road, connecting Karachi Port in Sindh province with Quetta in Balochistan, and the 286-kilometer (177-mile) long Mianwali-Muzaffargarh Road, connecting Mianwali and Muzaffargarh in Punjab province.

Both projects will be procured on a public-private partnership basis.

The N-25 highway project is valued at PAK 200 billion ($1.2 billion) and the Mianwali-Muzaffargarh Road project, at PAK 100 billion ($597 million).

Work on the former project consists of the rehabilitation of the existing road and construction of additional carriageways. The scope of work on the latter consists of dualizing the road section and the rehabilitation of existing two-lane facilities with structure on a build, own and transfer basis.
