Brookfield Asset Management has plans to inject more than $2 billion into renewable projects in India during the next 18 to 24 months, according to Bloomberg.
Brookfield currently has 4 gigawatts of renewable projects in the country and already has invested $1 billion to bring a quarter of that into operation. The next influx of $2 billion will make the remaining capacity operational.
The firm’s investments are expected to cross $2 billion to fund a larger expansion of its renewables business in the country.
“Given our ambition in the region, if we’re at 4 gigawatts today, we would expect that platform to increase by multiples over the years,” said Connor Teskey, CEO of Brookfield’s renewable power business. “We very much expect to have a large-scale platform in the region.”
