Archaea Energy, one of the largest renewable natural gas (RNG) producers in the United States, has signed a 20-year supply agreement with Canadian utility FortisBC.
It's the second long-term commercial agreement between Archaea and FortisBC, an energy-solutions provider in British Columbia serving approximately 1.2 million customers with natural gas, electricity, propane and renewable-energy solutions.
FortisBC expects to purchase as much as 7.6 million mmBtu per year of RNG generated by Archaea, helping it achieve its goal of having 15 percent RNG content in its gas-supply stream by 2030. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2022, pending regulatory approval from the British Columbia Utilities Commission.
