Vauban Infra Fibre acquires 19 fiber-to-the-home networks in France from CDC

by Kali Persall

Vauban Infra Fibre (VIF), France’s largest independent digital infrastructure platform, developed by Vauban Infrastructure Partners, has increased its ownership in the French Public Initiative Networks operated by Axione.

VIP acquired a portfolio of participations within broadband network operators in France’s low-density areas from its co-shareholder, the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (CDC). The move further consolidates VIF’s position as a key independent wholesale fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) operator in France.

The portfolio — dubbed Project Chrysalide — encompasses 19 FTTH networks, which have successfully reached completion, and approximately 2.5 million plugs rolled out to date. The portfolio, which is characterized by a large and diversified geographic footprint, displays high commercialization levels, with more than 1.5 million subscribers, according to VIF, further highlighting the strong tailwinds for the fiber market.
