iCON has completed the first and final closing of its new $3.6 billion fund, iCON Infrastructure Partners VI (iCON VI) three months after commencing fundraising.
The fundraise exceeded iCON VI’s initial $3 billion target, due to support from both existing and new investors. The mix consisted of a diverse group of blue-chip pension funds, asset managers, sovereign wealth funds and insurance companies from Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia.
iCON focuses on equity investments in infrastructure businesses located primarily in Europe and North America across a range of essential infrastructure sectors including water, waste, energy, transportation, telecommunications and healthcare.
The previous fund in the series, iCON V, closed with $1.9 billion of capital commitments in March 2020.
