Iberdrola is planning to add 1,400 megawatts of solar in Spain in the coming months.
The company is currently executing 12 photovoltaic projects with a combined installed capacity of 550 megawatts — half of which are located in Extremadura, a western Spanish region bordering Portugal, where Iberdrola is building the 80-megawatt Almaraz I and II plants. The company is also constructing the Tagus complex in Alcántara, which is composed of four plants with a total capacity of 200 megawatts.
In addition, Iberdrola is constructing six facilities in Castilla y León and Andalusia, totaling 271 megawatts. These include the 50-megawatt Villarino plant in Salamanca; the 144-megawatt Guillena project in Seville; the 27-megawatt Cespedera plant in Cadiz; and the 50-megawatt Virgen de Aremos III plant in Palencia.
Iberdrola also plans to break ground on six more projects this year that will provide 873 megawatts of new solar power in four autonomous communities.
