The longest cable-stayed bridge in North America is one step closer to reaching completion.
On July 24, Fluor Corp., which provides professional and technical solutions to deliver capital-efficient engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects to clients globally, announced the official deck connection of the Gordie Howe International Bridge, spanning the Detroit River.
Measuring more than a half-mile (853 meters), the bridge connects Windsor, Ontario, in Canada, and Detroit. It is the 10th longest cable-stayed bridge in the world and is the longest composite steel and concrete-decked, cable-stayed bridge in the world.
When completed, the bridge will include six lanes of traffic, two ports of entry, a multi-use path and a new interchange at Interstate 75 with four new road bridges, five pedestrian bridges and four interchange ramps connecting I-75 to the U.S. Port of Entry.
