The City of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., has broken ground on a cutting-edge water treatment facility, capable of producing 50 million gallons of clean, clear water per day. The new Prospect Lake Clean Water Center will replace the city’s aging Fiveash Water Treatment Plant.
The new plant, which could be completed by 2026 with an approximate cost of $666 million including enabling work, not only would deliver clear, clean water to city residents but will also be designed to withstand the winds of a Category 5 hurricane.
The city will maintain ownership of the Prospect Lake Clean Water Center throughout construction and the following 30-year operational period, with the project company responsible for on-site operational management, maintenance and repairs.
