AXA IM raises €730m for European infrastructure debt fund

by Andrea Waitrovich

AXA Investment Managers – Real Assets has raised an initial €730 million ($772 million) for a European infrastructure debt fund. The fund has a €1.5 billion ($1.6 billion) equity fundraising target.

European Infra Senior 1 will target senior secured debt investments in the transportation, telecommunications, social and energy (including renewables) sectors, with a preference for brownfield assets. It seeks to provide institutional investors with defensive and stable income by investing into a diversified portfolio of core infrastructure project-financing across pan-European markets.

AXA IM – Real Assets said the fund would co-invest alongside existing mandates managed by its infrastructure finance team. Both primary and secondary markets will be considered.

AXA IM – Real Assets has invested €3.1 billion ($3.3 billion) in infrastructure debt, spread over 35 transactions in France, the United Kingdom, the Nordics and Germany and mainly in the transportation and energy sectors.
