SC Capital launches pan-Asian data centre platform

by Jennifer Molloy

Singapore-based SC Capital Partners has launched a data centre platform, SC Zeus Data Centers, in partnership with a team of data centre experts led by Joe Gooi, CEO of the vertically integrated platform.

Headquartered in Singapore with a presence in China, Japan and South Korea, SC Capital Zeus Data Centers has a pipeline across Asia Pacific with approximately 250 MW of total IT load. The platform has recently committed to its first investment in Seoul, where it will develop a hyperscale data centre (45 MW IT load) for an expected total cost of approximately US$500 million.

“We are investing in this project to service the growing demand for data centre capacity on the back of a huge internet market in South Korea,” said Gooi.

The Asia Pacific region is experiencing growing demand for data centres, driven by the acceleration of existing trends due to the pandemic as well as an increased focus on data sovereignty and the localisation of data storage.
