Past is prologue: How investors can influence the future of real estate investment

Shakespeare set his masterpiece The Tempest on an island, after a storm. This is somewhat analogous to where we find ourselves now. In Act 2, Scene 1, Antonio says to Sebastian, “Whereof what’s past is prologue, what to come in yours and my discharge”. Most interpret it as meaning everything that has taken place was in preparation for what is to come. In other words, while there may not be much we can do about the past, we can affect the future.

As we look forward into 2022 and beyond, how are the Asia Pacific real estate markets set after the storm, and how can investors affect real estate investments?
