A total of 47 new investment funds were launched during first quarter 2022, on par when compared with previous years for number of funds launched during a first quarter. The new investment funds are seeking to raise an aggregate of approximately $33.2 billion, up from fourth quarter 2021’s $24.9 billion (42 funds).

Aquila Capital’s Aquila Capital Southern European Logistics SICAV-RAIF was the largest fund to launch in first quarter 2022. With a target investment volume of €1.5 billion ($1.7 billion) in gross asset value, ACSEL will focus on modern and energy-efficient logistics properties, which create value by combining sustainability, attractive rental conditions and strategic locations.

The diversified portfolio of logistic real estate assets will be located in Southern European countries, including Italy, Spain and Portugal. The fund will prioritize assets with proximity to transportation hubs to minimize carbon emissions related to transport and sustainable
