Infrastructure fundraising activity picks up steam

The infrastructure fundraising environment seems to be picking up steam, with eight funds reaching a final close in Q1 2024 raising aggregate capital of $26 billion, according to IREI’s first quarter 2024 Institutional Investing in Infrastructure Fundraising Report. In particular, energy-related and digital infrastructure fund strategies continue to be popular themes.

EnCap Investments, a U.S. private equity firm specializing in the oil and gas industry, is one firm making headway on its energy strategy. In April, EnCap had secured approximately $2.1 billion for its EnCap Energy Capital Fund XII. With a $4 billion fundraising target, EnCap Energy Capital Fund XII will invest in traditional upstream opportunities and acquisitions of mineral rights and royalty streams by providing growth capital to management teams focused on known producing regions in North America.
