Technology is now fully embedded into the systems in which we work. What percentage of your day do you spend in front of a computer? And, when you step away from that computer, do you have a smaller, mobile computer in your pocket?

There is a lot of talk about artificial intelligence and machine learning, about robots replacing people. But, at least until Skynet becomes fully operational, automated systems will need people to direct them.

At the corporate level, this means technology must be integrated into every team and every department. Decisions about tech infrastructure and tech spending cannot be shunted off to a separate IT department. They must involve department heads and investment committees.
