Why do tech companies find the infrastructure market attractive?

The technology blue-chip companies such as Microsoft, Google, Facebook and Amazon are getting into the infrastructure business as part of their broader operations, and each of them is doing so in a concerted strategic manner. The industry has not been following this development closely and, as a result, synergies are ad hoc and the opportunities within what we think of as the infrastructure community are being passed over. Those folks who are recognizing an opportunity exists are realizing substantial partnership benefits from it.
