Zoom Video Communications opens data center in Singapore

Zoom Video Communications Inc., a communications technology company headquartered in San Jose, Calif., has expanded into southeast Asia with the opening of a new data center in Singapore, according to Bloomberg. 

Zoom has partnered with Singapore’s Economic Development Board to set up the colocation facility, expanding to 18 sites globally. 

This comes on the heels of news that the video conferencing company will expand its Zoom for Home service to assistant-enabled smart displays such as Amazon Echo Show, Portal from Facebook, and Google Nest Hub Max

The number of adults working exclusively from home has tripled since before the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a recent study from Morning Consult, as cited by Zoom. This expansion to smart technology will incorporate Zoom’s services into widely-used devices and help broaden capabilities in the current work-from-home environment.
