WSIB’s Gary Bruebaker to retire in December

Gary Bruebaker, chief investment officer at Washington State Investment Board (WSIB), has announced he will retire after 40 years in the investment industry.

His last day at work will be Dec. 20.

As CIO, Bruebaker heads the $135 billion global investment program at WSIB, where he invests and manages assets for the state of Washington. He also provides a broad range of financial analysis guidance, including asset allocation modeling, investment risk and return parameters, strategic and tactical investment strategies, and investment performance measurement.

Bruebaker assumed the role of CIO in 2001. Since then, he has helped to generate top-decile performance among public retirement plans. Other accomplishments include the development of cost-effective investments in public markets, strong commitments to private market investments, and a customized real estate program.
