Construction has commenced on the final section of a $1.4 billion, 18-mile highway modernization project in Oakland County, Michigan.
Oakland Corridor Partners (OCP), a consortium of construction, engineering, asset management and investment firms is the preferred bidder for the project.
Segment 3 of the I-75 Modernization Program will involve reconstructing a 5.5-mile section of the I-75 corridor and building a 4-mile long, 14-foot-wide storage and drainage tunnel, according to OCP. Construction will include pavement widening, traffic crossovers, removing the Dallas Road overpass, and other work to prepare for the 2020 construction season.
The work is scheduled to be completed in August 2023, at which time OCP will assume responsibility for maintaining the highway for 25 years.
