Washington State Investment Board makes $750m follow-on to Calzada Capital Partners

by Kali Persall

The Washington State Investment Board (WSIB) has awarded $750 million to Calzada Capital Partners, a fund that invests in real estate operating companies.

WSIB has an existing partnership with Calzada Capital Partners that dates back to 2013. In October 2021, the pension fund made a $500 million follow-on commitment to Calzada.

The majority of WSIB’s partnerships in the real estate asset class invest in high-quality real estate leased to third parties.

As of March 31, the pension fund had $192.3 billion of assets under management. The real estate portfolio was valued at around $30 billion, with an 18.9 percent allocation.

WSIB could not be reached to comment on its investment activity at the time of publication.
