A public-private partnership (P3) agreement has been reached between Kenya and a group led by Vinci Highways for the building of the €1.3 billion ($1.5 billion) Nairobi-Nakuru-Mau Summit Highway project in Kenya.
This is the first P3 won by Vinci Concessions in Africa.
The project is changing the existing highway into a 175-kilometer (110-mile) dual two-lane motorway, which will improve the road safety and reduce travel time between Nairobi, Nakuru and Mau Summit. Through an availability payment–based P3, Rift Valley Highway will finance, design, widen, upgrade, operate and maintain this road corridor during 30 years.
