Vesper Energy, a developer, owner and operator of utility-scale renewable energy assets, has signed a 15-year virtual power-purchase agreement with biopharmaceutical giant Pfizer.
Under the agreement, Vesper will deliver at least 310 megawatts of renewable energy to the grid from its 500-megawatt Hornet Solar project in West Texas, powering 100 percent of the projected power needs of Pfizer's North American operations through clean energy. The Hornet Solar project is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2023.
“At Pfizer, we apply science to the world's greatest health challenges, and that commitment extends to confronting climate change, which has profound societal and public health impacts,” said Bill Carapezzi, executive vice president, global business services and transformation, at Pfizer.
Carapezzi noted that the agreement is a significant step toward reaching the company’s goal to purchase 100 percent renewable energy by 2030.
